Review of My World, My Way

My World My Way is a Fantasy RPG for the Nintendo DS that was released back in Feb 09'. This game was quite the sleeper gem and has been well reviewed for it's unusual game mechanic, the ability to pout to get your way.

That mechanic alone was what got me to pick up a copy of the game. In My World, My Way, you play a spoiled, sheltered Princess who has all the she could ever want, but one day a handsome adventurer turns down her advances for love. After being told she is nothing but a spoiled girl, she sets out to become a hero and win his love.

Going from town to town, you do tasks for the people and become stronger and stronger. Pouting to alter the game in ways of the terrain (to get certain monsters to attack), pouting to go first in battles, or pouting to not lose gold or exp when you eventually run out of HP. This game incorporates pouting into ever situation. The snooty and crass princess goes through deserts, dungeons and pouts to get dancing meadows and cemeteries inhabited by spooky ghosts.

My World, My Way is a fun and easy RPG to pick up, it appeals to the female gamers out there but still has a good mechanic to win over avid gamers. The game is whimsical and has a lot of comedic moments, addictive in nature, but still slightly repetitive in combat. The use of the duel screen is used properly for this RPG and the choice to use to stylus or the buttons is a nice plus. I recommend this as the perfect gift if you want to get a girl into RPGs but I'm sure you'll have a hard time keeping you own hands off the DS with this game.
